Syrian student comes first at international innovation competition for smartness

Lattakia, SANA- In a new achievement for Syrian youth, Ammar Yasser, obtained the first place in the Artificial Intelligence competition, organized by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in the United States of America in cooperation with NASA for making a model for predicting the values ​​of the solar storm turbulence index that affects the Earth gravitational field.

The global competition was held online with more than 622 participants from different parts of the world to send models and proposals that would contribute to reaching better predictions that enable them to deal with satellite navigation errors that are directly affected by the disturbances of the Earth geomagnetic field.

Owner of the first place described the competition as an additional value at various levels personally, scientifically and practically, saying “it availed an opportunity for me to test my abilities and use the knowledge that I gained during my studies, beginning with the National Center.”

Coordinator of the Mechatronics Program for Excellence at Tishreen University, Dr. Iyad Hatem, told SANA that the competition is one form of challenge that is posted on the Internet and allows researchers around the world to compete and provide the best solution of any issue at hand.
